In the early designing stages, Naoko Takeuchi kept debating about giving Sailor Moon a cape. There are a variety of pictures with her wearing it, but in each one, the rest of the costume looked different. When I decided to make this version, I took parts from each of these designs and put them together in the way I thought looked best. In the end, I had the "standard" uniform with a white bow in back so it would stand out against the cape, the white and red cape, and white boots, again to stand out. My tiara was modeled after her third manga tiara design, and the other accessories matched the "standard" design. With the help of my boyfriend, Peter, I also altered one of my Bandai Cresent Moon Wands to be a staff like it is seen later in the manga. I rarely wore the mask, as Sailor Moon would often take it off right away, plus I made it a little too large.

Construction Notes:
The base of this costume is my Sailor Moon V2. I redid the skirt and bows, and added a few new details. The cape is made of 6 yards combined of Casa satin and crepe back satin, and is therefor very heavy. It pulled the dress backwards, and made the bow sit closer to my neck than when I wear the dress without the cape.
Favorite Aspect:
The inside of the cape is sparkley!
Least Favorite Aspect:

Because the cape is so heavy, it shifted the the whole costume back.
